The Friends of the Musée de Cluny are delighted that the Crucified Christ attributed to Giovanni Pisano is soon to enter the Musée de Cluny’s collections.
Our association has made a strong commitment to the museum to enable it to acquire this exceptional work from the second half of the 13th century.
You can admire this small ivory of great value, classified as a Work of Major Heritage Interest, in the current “Recent Acquisitions” exhibition, which has just been extended: you have until June 25, 2023!
Our mobilization took the form, among other things, of a subscription that ran throughout 2022 and ended on December 2.
241 people made donations, 195 via the Hello Asso platform and 46 directly to the Friends of the Musée de Cluny. This represents a total of 128,997 euros, divided between 34,548 euros via Hello Asso and 94,449 euros directly, with donations ranging from 5 to 6,500 euros. The average donation via Hello Asso is 177 euros, and the average direct donation is 2,053, for a total average donation of 535 euros.
We can only say a big thank you to everyone, small and large donors alike.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be taking part in the events organized by the museum to celebrate the acquisition of this work of art, which has enriched the Musée de Cluny’s collections and, by the same token, the national collections of medieval art.
